Beowulf's final battle didin't even compare to his previous battles. Bowulf was too old for such an intense battle, the dragon had beowulf since the beginning of the battle. When beowulf was younger he had strength that no one could compete with and courage to match it. Even though he maintained that courage, he lost his strength. Sadly beowulf died in this final battle, but there is one ting you can say about him,and that is he feared no one.
Jacob Saunders- Much different, first of all, Beowulf was not in a foreign land, but rather, was defending his own homeland from a powerful evil, possibly even moreso than Grendel. At this point he was a king rather than a prince as he was when he fought Grendel and his mom. In the other two battles, Beowulf was younger and healthier, and not only survived, but killed the enemies with ease. In those battles he seemed to have the utmost loyalty from his comrades. In his last battle he was an older, weaker, king fighting an extremely powerful enemy that all of his comrades were too afraid of to fight (with the exception of Wiglaf). Also this was a battle that brought him to death while the other two were barely even struggles for him. In Beowulf's other two battles he used his hands but this time he used his weapons for the sake of defending himself properly.
Beowulf's last battle, while being no less epic than the two that preceded it, definitively shows the marks that time left on Beowulf - in his battle with the dragon, he receives grievous wounds due to his advanced age and fights alone without even the slightest aid from his men, at least until Wiglaf gathers his own bravery and fights back alongside him. On the other hand, the last battle shows that Beowulf still retains his brave, uncompromising spirit, even in the face of his death, and he even accepts the latter with no regrets.
In Beowulf's first two battles obviously he's young, has more strength, he's faster and Fate was basicially on his side. In his last battle, Beowulf is over 65yrs old trying to fight a fire burning dragon all by him-self. In the battle with Grendel and with Grendel mother's, yes he's by him-self, but he has more of an advantage because of his youth and his doesn't rely on weapons to help him defeat the monsters. He uses his bare hands with Grendel and his strength with Grendel's mother. When he's fighting the dragon, he counts on his sheild and his sword to make up for his short commings.
Beowulf last battle had its simlarities and difference than his previous battles. In all the battles he was always the "knight and shining hero" at the end. He was the one that went away to war to be a hero and to be sucessful at war. The diffrence, though, he was an elder and did not have full strenth. At the end of this battle he was not suceesful and he lost the battle and died. This made the biggesst difference.
Also to add on to the previous comment, the motive to go to the last battle was to get the riches that lies in the cattle; while the other battles was to pretect the people.
In every battle Beowulf has stived to seek fame and praise, and he was always successful. The difference amoungst his previous battle was his age. In his last battle Beowulf was an old man. He fought with the same might, but in the end he lost. This too is of signifigance
Beowulf was a lot older, prehaps weaker and slower in his last battle. In his previous battles he was younger, faster , strong and not so much worned down by time. Also in Beowulf's last battle he had a warrior Wiglaf to come to his rescue. Beowulf actually was left defeated at his last battle and Wiglaf slew the dragon for him.
Beowulf's final battle can be compared in different ways with battles while he was younger. In this case the difference would be that Beowulf in the last battle had to face his own fears while the younger had to face the fears of the others. When his own people were attacked by the dragon who was awaken by the theif stealing a cup, he had to face it much like Horthgard had to with Grendel and his mother. However, Beowulf did not have a warrior from another country to call so he had to go in on his own. The similarities however are that both times, Beowulf still had his courage even though he was facing his own problems and he even his own death.
The difference between Beowulf's first battles and his final battle is that for the first two, he was significantly younger and stronger than he was for the final battle. When he fought the dragon, he was old and weak, rendering him unable to defeat the powerful foe.
In the first two battles, Beowulf was able to defeat his opponents because of the amount of strength he possessed. However, in the last battle he was weaker due to age, and was forced to say his last good-bye to his men, because he feared he would not be returning home. In the end, just like his two previous battles, Beowulf defeated his opponent once and for all.
Though crippled by age and fear, Beowulf held his own as in his previous battles, against the Dragon. In his earlier battles, Beowulf was younger, faster, though, compared to his current battle with the Dragon, his courage could be far from hindered by his age. Beowulf nonetheless faced a type of fear, braving up to said fear, and fighting back the Dragon. In so, during all battles, though his age and vitality were vastly different, his courage and valor remain strong and unbreakable.
