While not consciously aware of biblical knowledge, Grendel is perceived as a monster by the residents of Herot. "Monsters born of Cain" implies that Cain committed some atrocity in the eyes of God. If Grendel is conceived of the monsters conceived by Cain, then that would infer that Grendel would be a direct relative of Cain. Since Cain gave birth to monsters, Cain's offspring would be as well, and sticking to laws of genetics, those offspring would be monsters and their offspring would be monsters etc. So going back to the laws of genetics, then Grendel must be the offspring of a biblical monster.
I conquer with Tobias. Grendel had to be a demonic creature, because his ancestors were. That would explain why he is full of jealousy and rage. Cain was jealous of his brother, therefore he killed him. Grendel is jealous of the Danes, so he terrorizes them, and kills their people.
To begin with, Cain was a character of the bible. He was very enveous of his brother ,Adam, because he was favored by God. In a jealous rage he killed his brother. By Grendel being of hos descent, he is droven by rage and jealousy. And when he gets angry he kills. All of his characteristics falls back on him being of Cain's descent.
